SUMMER FILM EVENING PROGRAM in CLAUSTRUM 2019

The first Tuesday of June and July we have movie night, starting an usual time 20.15. 

La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc is a 1928 silent French historical film based on the actual record of the trial of Joan of Arc. The film was directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer and stars Renée Jeanne Falconetti as Joan. It is widely regarded as a landmark of cinema, especially for its production, Dreyer's direction and Falconetti's performance, which is often listed as one of the finest in cinema history. Häxan (Danish: Heksen; English title: The Witches or Witchcraft Through the Ages) was completed in 1920, and released in 1922. The film is a Swedish-Danish documentary-style silent horror film written and directed by Benjamin Christensen. Based partly on Christensen's study of the Malleus Maleficarum, a 15th-century German guide for inquisitors, Häxan is a study of how superstition and the misunderstanding of diseases and mental illness could lead to the hysteria of the witch-hunts.The film was made as a documentary but contains dramatised sequences that are comparable to horror films.
